Clerk Examination Pattern 2018

After submitting the online form successfully candidates have to check the clerical exam paper pattern given below:

The subjects that are covered under this examination are Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English Language. The syllabus for both Preliminary Exam and the Mains Exam are unique.

There are major changes in the exam pattern of IBPS Clerk 2018 Exam. Therefore, the total duration and the number of questions asked in the Mains Examination of IBPS Clerk 2018 Exam have been revised.

In the latest update by IBPS, Mains Exam will have 190 questions that need to be completed in a time frame of 160 minutes. Earlier, Computer Aptitude and Reasoning Ability Section used to be conducted separately. But, in the recent update by IBPS, both these sections are combined together and will constitute 50 questions that need to be solved in a time duration of 45 minutes.

Both Preliminary Exam and Mains Exam will be conducted bilingually, i.e. both in English and in Hindi. The below-mentioned table is the detailed structure for both exams:

Negative Marking:

  • Negative marking for both exams will be applicable for each wrong answer

  • For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from all score

  • For the unmarked question, there will be no penalty

  • A score will be normalized using the equipercentile method

Cut Off Score:

Cut off will be decided according to available vacancies in that particular state.

Final Calculation:

The final score for the IBPS Clerk exam will be calculated following the points mentioned below:

  • The marks obtained by the candidates in the Preliminary Exam (Phase-1) will not be considered for selection
  • Candidates must qualify Phase-2 to be eligible for final merit
  • The aggregate score out of 100 is used for the final merit list for each category. A candidate with top merit rank in each category are finally selected
