Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national entrance exam, On behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB - GATE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Government of India, the exam is jointly administered by Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISc Bangalore), on a rotating basis
The GATE Committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for regulating the examination and for declaring the results. The administrative purposes, the examination cities in India are segregated into eight zones. The operations related to GATE, in each of the eight zone, are managed by a ZOnal GATE office at the administrative Institute (IIT or IISc)
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India entrance examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidate in various UG subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and PG subjects in Science.
To be admitted to Masters in Technology (M.Tech) Programs and direct PhD admissions to Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Institutions / Universities throughout India, candidates must pass the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) a national entrance exam. A large number of State Electricity Boards (SEB) and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) accept GATE for the recruitment of trainee scientists and engineers of group C-level positions.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has issued a notice regarding a change in the examination center for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. Candidates who were originally assigned to exam centers in Prayagra for the tests on February 15 & 16, 2025, will not have to appear at centers in Lucknow. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, will be organizing the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025.

NOTE : Each Subject/Paper is total 100 Marks. General Aptitude (GA) Section of 15 Marks is common for all Papers. Hence remanining 85 Marks are the respective subject / Paper code.
The GATE exam will be conducted at various cities grouped under the Zonal GATE office. Candidates have to choose three cities from the list of examination cities. One should choose the first and second choices from the same GATE zone, while, the third choice should be from another GATE zone. The important note is the GATE Committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has introduced new two paper combinations for the candidates appearing for the GATE 2025.IIT Roorkee will be conducting the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 on 01, 02, 15 & 16 February, 2025.Candidates who are appearing and registered for GATE 2025 can select from these options on the official website - gate2025.iitr.ac.in between 14 to 20 November, 2024.Candidates can choose one or two papers on the combination list.
GATE 2025 TWO PAPER COMBINATIONS
The following new two - paper combinations (see table 2 below) are available during 14 - 20 November, 2024 for candidates who have already registered.These are in addition to the two-paper combinations that were available in the regular and extended application windows (see Table 1 below).
Candidates who had taken only one paper previously: could now add a second paper from the new two paper combinations (see table 2 below).This is a available at a regular fee with no penalty.
Those who had already taken two papers could now change their second paper only.
Those who wanted to add second paper from existing two paper combinations provided in (see table 1 below) could add the new paper at a regular fee with penalty.
