The National Testing agency (NTA) has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGC-NET, which is test to determine the eligibility of Indian National for 'award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor', 'appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph
D.' and 'admission to Ph.D only' in Indian Universities and Colleges.
Until June 2018, the NET was conducted by CBSE in 84 Subjects at 91 cities across the country. Thereafter from December 2018 onwards, the UGC-NET is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
UGC-NET is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian Nationals for 'award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor', 'appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.' and 'admission to Ph.D Only' in Indian Universities and Colleges.
Candidates qualifying under the 'appointment as Assistant Professor and admission for Ph.D.' category will be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D but not for the award of JRF.
Candidates qualifying under the 'admission to Ph.D. only' category will be eligible for admission to Ph.D only but not for the award of JRF and / or appointment as Assistant Professor.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for UGC-NET June 2025 on 16 April, 2025. The exam is conducted to determine eligibility for Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian Universities and Colleges. The UC NET June 2025 Cycle Online registration process has started from 16 April, 2025 and the last date for successful transaction of Examination fee is 08 May, 2025 Upto 11:59 PM.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the Online Application Process for University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) June 2025 Session from 16 April to 07 May, 2025 and the last date of successful payment of exam fee is 08 May, 2025 upto 11:59 PM. The UGC-NET June 2025 Session exam will be conducted from 21 to 30 June, 2025. Candidates who wants to modify or edit the application form for UGC NET June, 2025 correction window will be available from 09 & 10 May, 2025 until 11:59 PM, candidates can make the corrections and necessary changes in application form during this period. Candidates can apply for UGC-NET June 2025 through the "Online" mode only through the website - ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.
Candidates are not allowed to fill more than one Application Form.
Candidates must strictly follow the instructions given in the information bulletin available on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
Candidates must ensure that the e-mail address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own or Parents / Guardian only, as all information / communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on the registered Mobile Number only.
The UGC NET June 2025 will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) Mode as per the time schedule.
Mode of Examination
The Examination shall be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) Mode only.
Pattern of Examination
The test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions. There wil be no break between papers.

Candidates who hold a Master's or equivalent degree with a minimum of at least 55% marks from a recognised UGC universities/institutions in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible to apply.
The candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/persons with disability (PwD) category candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility. Click here to know more about the eligibility criteria in details.
1. For Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for applying for for UGC-NET for Assistant Professor.
2. Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Not more than 30 years as on 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded i.e. 01.06.2025. (The Age limit is applicable for the current examination only).

A Candidate can select four cities of their choice while filling Online Application Form of June 2025 of UGC-NET.
Important Points to Note :
1. The candidates should fill their complete postal address with PIN Code for further correspondence.
2. The candidate must ensure that e-mail address and Mobile Number provided in Online Application Form are their own (Which cannot be changed later) as communication may be sent by NTA through e-mail or SMS.
3. The candidate should not give the postal address, Mobile Number or E-mail ID of Coaching Centre in the Online Application Form.
4. In order to appear for UGC-NET June 2025, the candidates are required to apply "online". The Application Form other than online mode shall not to be accepted. No change will be accepted through offline mode i.e. through fax/application including e-mail etc.
5. Online submission of application may be done by accessing the NTA Official Website - ugcnet.nic.in.
6. Online Application Form cannot be withdrawn once it is submitted successfully.
7. Application Form of candidates who do not fulfill the eligibility criteria shall be rejected.
8. A candidate is allowed to submit only one Application Form. If a candidate submits more than one Application Form, the candidature is likely to be cancelled.
9. Request for change in any particular in the Application Form shall not be entertained after closing of the correction window.
