University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), also known as NTA UGC NET, is a national-level examination conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for the posts of Assistant Professors or Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) at Indian Universities and Colleges.
The test is administered nationally. There will be 83 topics covered by UGC NET in total. To apply for the exam, candidates must complete the UGC NET 2025 Application Form. Candidates will only be able to obtain their UGC NET Admit Card if they successfully complete the application.

A New Syllabus "Disaster Management" (Subject Code 104) and "Ayurveda Biology (Subject Code 105) has been introduced among the list of subject vide letter no. F.No.4-1/2018(NET/Policy) dated 25.10.2022, received from NET Bureau of UGC w.e.f. UGC-NET.
The candidates may note that the syllabus has been modified and the new syllabus applicable from June 2019 onwards has been notified though a Public Notice on NTA Website.
Medium of Question Paper
1. The UGC NET Question Paper is available in Hingi and English Only. Candidates can choose their preferred language while filling out the application form.
2. Option for medium of Question Paper should be carefully cjosen by the Candidate, while filling the Application Form online. The option once exercised cannot be changed.
3. Candidates are required to answer in the medium as per option exercised in the Application Form.
4. In case of any ambiguity in translation / construction of a question in the exam, its English Version shall be treated as final and decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.

When completing the application form, candidates must select one of the 83 disciplines provided as the subject for the UGC NET Paper 2. Only the subject of their post-graduation must be mentioned by candidates. Candidates may appear in a comparable subject of their Post Graduation Subject is not included in the list of UGC NET Subjects.
Every right responses receives two marks in each UGC NET exam paper, The UCG NET exam has no negative grading.
1. To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as correct option.
2. Each question carries (02) two marks.
3. For each correct response, candidate will get 02 (two) marks.
4. There is no negative marking for incorrect response.
5. If a question is found to be incorrect / ambiguous or has multiple correct answers, only those candidates who have attempted the question and chose one of the correct answers would be given the credit.
6. If a question is found to be incorrect and the Question is dropped, then two marks (+2) will be awarded to only those candidates who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error. Since, there is no negative marking, candidate needs to choose one of the most appropriate options as correct answer.

The NTA will display Provisional Answer Key of the questions on the NTA Website ugcnet.nta.nic.in to provide an opportunity to the candidates to challenge the Provisionaly Answer Key. The Answer Keys are likely to be displayed for two to three days.
The candidates will be required to pay online an amount of Rs. 200/-per answer key challenged as processing fee which is non-refundable.
Only paid challenges made during the stipulated time through the key challenge link will be considered. Challenges without justification / evidence / after stipulated time period and those filed on any other medium other than the prescribed link will not be considered.
The NTA decision on the challenges shall be final and no further communication will be entertained. NTA will not inform the Candidates individually about the outcome of the challenge made.
The subjects experts will examine all the challenges received and then a final answer key will be displayed and declared.
The result will be compiled based on the final answer key declared. No grievance with regard to answer key(s) after the declaration of result / NTA Score of UGC - NET June 2025 will be entertained.
