GATE Admit Card

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India entrance examination conducted for admission to postgraduate courses in the field of engineering and technology. In order to take the GATE entrance examination, candidates should have a valid admit card which will be released by the organising institute a month prior to the examination. 

GATE Admit Card 2020

IIT Madras will be releasing the GATE 2020 admit card on January 4, 2020 (Tentative). The GATE 2020 admit card will be available in online mode only. The GATE 2020 admit card will be available till the end of the examination. The GATE exam will be conducted on February 2, 3, 9 and 10, 2020. On the GATE exam day, candidates need to carry the admit card along with an original identity card issued by the central/state government.

Steps To Download GATE Admit Card 

Step 1: Visit the official website of GATE.  

Step 2: Click on the GATE admit card link. 

Step 3: Enter the registered ID and password. 

Step 4: The GATE admit card will be displayed on the screen. 

Step 5: Download and take a printout of the GATE admit card.

Details On GATE Admit Card 

Candidates need to enter their login details on the official website to download the GATE admit card. After downloading the GATE admit card, candidates are advised to check the details thoroughly on the admit card that include both personal and examination details. In case of any error or mistake in the GATE admit card, aspirants should contact the respective authority without any delay. Here are some of the details one should check after downloading the GATE admit card.

Important Instructions On GATE Admit Card 

  • We advise aspirants to read the instructions mentioned on the GATE admit card. Some of the important instructions are as below: 
  • A candidate should carry the GATE admit card along with an original valid identity card issued by the state/central government. 
  • The test takers need to take a printout of GATE admit card on A4 size paper and carry the same on exam date. 
  • Aspirants should preserve the GATE admit card till the end of counselling/admission. 
  • The test aspirants should report at least 60 minutes before the exam time at the venue. 
  • Candidates can't leave the examination hall before the examination ends. 

What To Carry Along With GATE Admit Card 

As said earlier, candidates should carry the GATE admit card along with a valid identity card issued by the central/ state government. Some of the accepted identity proofs are given below.  

Voter ID Card 

Passport

Driving License

Aadhaar Card 

PAN card 

Employee ID 

College ID

 

However, for international candidates, the accepted ID are Passport, Government issued ID, College ID and Employee ID. 

Discrepancy In GATE Admit Card

After downloading the GATE admit card, candidates need to check all the important details on it.  In case of any error in the GATE admit card such as GATE time slot and paper/code, they should reach the respective authorities immediately.

GATE Admit Card FAQs 

Question: Where to download the GATE admit card? 

Answer: Candidates need to download the GATE admit card from the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). 

Question: Can I carry a photocopy of my identity card to the GATE exam centre? 

Answer: No. Candidates should carry only an original ID card issued by the state/centre government. 

Question: What to do if I forget my GATE password? 

Answer: Aspirants should visit the official website (GOAPS) and click on ‘Forgot Password’ after entering the application number. The password reset link will be sent to the respective email. 

Question: When to download GATE admit card?

Answer: The admit card will be available on the GOAPS website from January 4, 2019. 

Question: Will the GATE admit card be sent to the address of communication?

Answer: No. GATE admit cards will not be sent through post or e-mail. 

Question: Is the soft copy of GATE admit card allowed? 

Answer: No. Candidates need to take a printout of the GATE admit card and bring the same to the examination hall.
