Bank Aspirants might come across the trend on Twitter regarding #ResolveIBPS. Several bank aspirants along with others voiced their opinion regarding conducting of bank examinations in local languages as well besides English and Hindi.
In 2014, the Institute had discontinued the Regional Rural Banks (RRB) entrance examination in local languages. The online entrance test will be held in English and Hindi.
In the official recruitment notification, it is clearly mentioned that an essential qualification to posts in IBPS RRB is that a candidate should be proficient in a local language. This put student who is good at local language in jeopardy though they satisfy the eligibility criteria.
Many voiced that aspirants from poor or marginalized communities are not showing interest to take part in the IBPS RRB exam because of this language barrier.
IBPS conducts Specialist Officer, Probationary Officer (PO) and Clerk recruitment examination for the nationalized banks along with RRBs. However, proficiency in the local language is required only for recruitment to RRBs.3 July 2019
