CDS (I) and (II) Application Procedure

Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for Combined Defence Services (CDS) (I) 2025 Examination on the official website - upsc.gov.in on 11 December, 2024. The UPSC CDS 2024 Exam will be held on April 13, 2025. UPSC CDS (II) 2025 Online application will start from 28 May, 2025 and it will end on 17 June, 2025. The UPSC CDS (II) 2025 exam will be held on 14 September, 2025.

The UPSC will conduct the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam for vacancies in Indian Military, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy. The exam will be conducted twice a year. Interested candidates can visit the official website of UPSC to register.

UPSC CDS (I) Exam Date 2025 14 September, 2025

UPSC has released the notification of CDS (I) 2025 on 11 December, 2024, and for CDS (II) 2025 on the official website - upsc.gov.in. The examination for CDS (I) 2025 will be conducted on 14 April, 2025, and for CDS (II) 2025, the exam is going to be conducted on 14 September, 2025. Eligible and successful candidates are admitted after an interview conducted by the UPSC for those having qualified the written examination.

Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Personality Test.

Candidates are required to apply online by using the official website of UPSC, i.e.

www.upsconline.nic.in, brief instructions for filling up the online application form are available on the official website.

Online application form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II. So, candidates are advised to complete the form as per the instructions available on the official website.

The candidates are required to pay a fee of INR 200 [excepting SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee] either by depositing the money in any branch of SBI by cash or by using the net banking facility of the State Bank of India/State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using any Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card.

Applicants who opt for "Pay by Cash" mode should print the system generated Pay in-slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only. "Pay by Cash" mode option will be deactivated at11:59 PM of 30.12.2024 i.e. one day before the closing date.

Before starting filling up the online application, a candidate must have his/her photograph and signature duly scanned in the .jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 300 KB and must not be less than 20 KB each in size for the photograph and signature.

Applicants should avoid submitting multiple applications. However, if due to any unavoidable circumstances any applicant submits multiple applications then he must ensure that the applications with higher RID are complete in all respects.

UPSC CDS 2025: Late Date of Application

  • For CDS (I) 2025 - 31 December, 2024, up to 6:00 pm
  • For CDS (II) 2025 - 17 June, 2025, up to 6:00 pm

CDS Application Withdrawal Facility 

  • The UPSC has introduced the facility of withdrawal of application for those candidates who do not want to appear for the examination. 
  • The Commission will accept the withdrawal of the application till January. 
  • One should submit their login details to withdraw the application. 

Who can Apply for UPSC CDS 2025?

Only candidates who meet the CDS Exam eligibility requirements will be premitted to take the exam. As a result, candidates should familiarize themselves with the CDS 2025 eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. The exact qualifying standards for defense employment vary by course, but the common requirements are that candidates be Indian nationals, be within the authorized age limit, and have a bachelor's degree. The exact age range for each course varies, however candidates must be at least 19 years old than 25 years old to take the CDS exam.
