The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE), New Delhi introduced the national level common entrance exam called Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted for admission to various engineering colleges in India
JEE Main examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018. From 2019 onwards, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is vested with the authority to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main examination. The major development in JEE Main is the exam will be held twice a year for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in IITs, NIT's, IIIT's and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions.
The Joint Entrance Exam will be conducted in two stages - JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE (Main) replaced the AIEEE entrance exam and JEE (Advanced) replaced the IIT-JEE entrance exam. Every year, over 25,000 Engineering and Architecture seats will be filled through the JEE Main score.
The aim of the common entrance test has been mooted to reduce stress on students, who have to appear for multiple entrance examinations and to give greater relevance to the school education, especially the class 12 board examinations.
NTA has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organisation to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions. It is a newly formed body by the centre to conduct prestigious entrance examinations such as JEE Main and NEET UG. The Agency has also vested with all the authority to conduct the entrance examinations in the online mode from 2019 onwards. Here are some of the changes in JEE Main examination after the introduction of NTA.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially declared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main Result 2025 for Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B. Planning) on the offiical website - jeemain.nta.nic.in on 23 May, 2025. The JEE Main 2A Examinations were conducted on January 30 and 2B was held on 09 April, 2025. JEE Main Exam will be conducted in single shift in 13 Languages such as English, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi and Urdu. Candidates can check their results by login using your application number and password or date of birth to check their NTA Score, Percentile, All India Rank (AIR) and Qualifying status for JEE Mains.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the Joint Entrance Examnation (JEE) Mains 2025 Session 2 exam dates due to CBSE Class 12 Board exams schedule. As per the schedule released by NTA, JEE Main 2025 Exam Paper 1 (B.E./ B.Tech) will be held on 02, 03, 04 & 07 April, 2025 in two shifts: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Noon & 3:00 PM & 6:00 PM.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 online registration for January Session (I) from 28 October, 2024 to 22 November, 2024 till 9:00 PM.
NTA is responsible for releasing the JEE Main Notification for both exam sessions. Candidates who are interested and eligible can registration online for JEE Main on the official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates should check JEE Main Information bulletin meticulously that will contain all the information about the exam starting from eligiblity to important dates.
The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (NTA) from 2019 onwards.
JEE (Main) comprises of two papers.
Paper 1 (B.E./ B.Tech) is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E./B.Tech) at NIITs, IITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions / Universities funded / recognized by participating State Governments. It is also an eligibility Test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 of JEE (Main) is conducted fro admission to B.Arch and B. Planning courses in the country.

(i) A candidates can apply for session - 1 (January 2025) examination and pay the exam fee accordingly. The candidates will be given opportunity to apply for session - 2 (APril 2025) separately (using same application number) along with the fee payment, for which separate notification will be issued.
(ii) If a candidate wisehes to apply for Session 2 (April 2025), the candidate can log in and pay the Examination Fee for Session 2 during that period. If candidates wishes to apply only for session - 2 (April 2025), he can register later, when application form for Session - 2 (April 2025) is active.
(iii) The application window for Session 2 will be re-opened as per the details available in the information Bulletin and will also be notified separately through a Public Notice.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the JEE Main January Session (I) 2025 Exam dates on the official notice. Candidates can apply for JEE Main 2025 before the deadline of 22 November, 2024 on the official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main 2025 will be held from 22 to 31 January, 2025. JEE Main hopefuls should be informed of the entire number of JEE Mains attempts.Candidates may sit for the JEE Mains test in three consecutive years beginning in 2025.There will be two sessions per year.As a result, there will be a total of six attempts for JEE Mains 2025.
Last year, the NTA reintroduced the 75 percent marks eligibility condition in JEE Mains.Candidates who want to enrol into their selected institute must now score at least 75% in their class 12th to qualify for JEE Mains.There was no such criteria before to COVID-19, and no 12th was necessary for JEE Mains.Any candidate deemed unfit under the JEE Mains 75 percent criteria will be declared disqualified and will not be admitted to institutes such as IITs, NITs, IITs and CFTIs.
The registration process for JEE Main 2025 has begun on the official website.The dates for the JEE Main 2025 application form have been issued by the NTA.Candidates can fill out the JEE Main application form 2025 online.Registration, form filling, document uploading, and application payment are all part of the JEE Mains 2025 application procedure.Candidate who match the minimal eligibility criterion will be able to register for JEE Mains 2025.After the JEE Main 2025 registration deadline, no applications will be allowed.Candidates can apply for NTA JEE Main 2025 by following the online processes outline below.

Medium of the Question Papers : Drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the JEE (Main) 2025 will be conducted in 13 Languages - Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi, English and Gujarati.
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria set by the NTA are only eligible to apply online for JEE Main.There are many eligibility criteria set by NTA.
1.Age Limit: There is no age limit for the candidates to appear for the JEE Main examination.However, candidates should satisfy themselves regarding the age limit while taking admission at a particular institute.
2.Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE): Candidates who have passed class 12 or its equivalent qualifying examination in 2023, 2024, or those who are appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2025, are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2025.
3.Candidates who passed the Class XII / equivalent examination in 2022 or before are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) - 2025.
4.Number of subjects in the Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12 qualifying examination in order to apply online for JEE Main 2025.The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in qualifying examination for B.Arch.
5.Percentage of Marks: Candidates have to secure the minimum of 75% marks in aggregate for admission to pioneer institutes in the country such as IITs, IIITs, NITs and CFTIs.However, it is 65% for reserved categories.
6.B.Arch Eligibility: The paper-II is B.Arch.Candidates who are aiming for admission to this course must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.The diploma holders are not eligible to apply.
The NTA will follow strictly the Govt.of India reservation rules belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. In order to get admission to a particular institute, candidates are advised to check the percentage of reservation.
