JEE Main 2025: Selection Process

The JEE Main selection procedure is structured in the following manner:

  • Examination stages
  • Eligibility and Application
  • Admit Card
  • Examination
  • Results & Rank List
  • Counseling
  • JEE Advance

Here is detailed explanation:

Candidates whi fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements, which include finishing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, are then considered for the JEE Main 2025 selection process. The test is administered twice a year, usually in January and April, and candidates may try once or both sessions. For the final ranking, their best score from all of their efforts in taken into account. Eligible applicants receive an admit card to take the test after registering.

Paper 1 is for applicants to B.E./B.Tech Programs, and Paper 2 (which is divided into sections A and B) is for applicants to B.Arch and B. Planning programs. Multiple-choice and numerical anwer-style questions in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are included in the Computer-Based Test Format.

The National Test Agency (NTA) Publishes the results and an All India Rank (AIR) list after the tests are over. In order to secure seats in government-funded technical institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and others, candidates with higher ranks proceed to the counseling phase, which is administered by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

Counseling guarantees that seats are distributed according to candidates' JEE Mains Ranks and Preferences. A Strong JEE Main Sore is crucial for students aiming to get into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) because it entitles them to JEE Advanced, a different test needed to get into IIT.

In conclusion, JEE Main grants admission to a number of technical schools around India, and eligible applicants for IITs must successfully complete JEE Advance.

JEE Main Seat Allocation Procedure

  • The NTA is only an examination conducting body. After the declaration of result, the data is handed over to Centralised Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) or Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) or the concerned State government/institute for Seat Allocation Process and admission procedure. The NTA does not collect the information regarding total number of seats available in the institutions and reservation criteria followed by the institutions
  • Before choosing the seats, the candidates are advised to check the seat availability in the particular college, branch, and category
  •  During the online counselling, the candidates are free to change, reorder, delete and add their choices, Once the seat is locked, candidates will not be able to unlock their choices. If a candidate fails to explicitly lock his/her choices by the stipulated time, his/her last saved choices will be automatically locked after this deadline. Candidates are therefore strongly advised to lock their choices themselves
  • Candidates must take a printout of their locked choices. This printout, which will consist of the terms and conditions as agreed by the candidates, has to be signed and submitted at the time of reporting at Reporting Centre/Allotted Institute for admission
  • A registered candidate, who have not filled any choice and/or fail to save them, cannot be considered for seat allotment and admission. However, he/she is permitted to fill choices after the third round for participating in the fourth round. If he/she again fails to fill any choice(s) and/or fail to save them, he/she cannot be considered for seat allotment in the fourth round. However, he/she can be considered for the spot round admission, if they register for it, during the scheduled time
  • If the information submitted by any candidate is found to be fraudulent, incorrect or untrue, the seat allotted (if any) is liable to be cancelled.

Moreover, such candidates will no longer be considered eligible for admission and will also be liable for legal action

  • All the candidates who get an allotment and have deposited initial fee will report in person to any one of the Reporting Centers, failing which their seat allotment shall stand cancelled
  • Candidates should produce all the relevant certificates in original for verification, signed a printout of locked choices and provisional allotment letter printed from the website when they report to the Reporting Center. Proof (Print out / SMS / Email) of online payment of an initial fee is to be produced at the time of reporting. The fee can be paid through e-Challan or Debit Card /Credit Card /Net Banking
