NID - National Institute of Design organizes the National Level Entrance Exam known as NID Design Aptitide Test (DAT)
India's premier and first design institute in the country, the National Institute of Design (NID), has been declared as an 'Institution of National Importance' by the Act of Parliament. National Institute of Design (NID) offers admissions to courses such as Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Master of Design (M.Des) programmes. There are now 425 places available for the B.Des Program, and 347 seats are available for the M.Des Program. The NID Ahmedabad, NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh, and NID Assam campuses are the FIVE Locations where B.Des is accessible. Meanwhile, NID Ahmedabad, NID Bangalore, and NID Gandhinagar are the Three campuses that provide the N.Des Program.
The candidates will be shortlisted based on the national-level entrance examination which will be conducted in two stages.
Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims
Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains.
Note that for admission to the B.Des or M.Des Course, it is mandatory to appear in both DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.
Candidates who qualify in the DAT Prelims are only elgible to appear for the DAT Mains Examination. The DAT Prelims paper comprises of a mix of objective and subjective questions.
B.Des course has an intake of 425 seats and is offered at the following FIVE Campuses - NID Ahmedabad, NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh and NID Assam. And M.Des course offers 347 seats at its THREE Campus - NID Ahmedabad, NID Gandhinagar and NID Bengaluru.

The National Institute of Design (NID) has extended the registration process for Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2025. NID DAT B.Des & M.Des 2024 Application Form Starts
The National Institute of Design Aptitude Test, commonly abbreviated as NID DAT has opened its window for the admission in the B.
Des and M. Des Courses in the upcoming year, 2024. The aspirants who are eligible and interested can apply and get themselves registered for the NID DAT B. Des and M. Des Degrees 2025 by applying online at the official website of NID DAT; admissions.nid.edu. Aspirants will be able to register themselves from September 3, 2024 till December 3, 2024. Therefore, the candidates are requested to apply for the NID DAT 2024 application form within the timeframe, in order to avoid any sort of confusion.
Each step of the NID DAT 2025 application process is exclusively available online. The NID application procedure consists of four steps: online registration, application form completion, document upload, and application fee payment.

Step 2: Click on the "New Registration" tab.
Step 3: Provide a valid mobile number, email ID, and Date of birth, and click on the submit button.
Step 4: After registration, login credentials will be emailed to the registered email ID and mobile number.

National Institute of Design will release the eligibility criteria for the B.Des and M.Des for the academic year 2025-26. Candidates have to meet the age limit, educational qualifications, and the qualifying exam that is accepted by NID. NID Applications for academic year 2025-26 are open to candidates who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualfying examinations in the academic year 2025-26 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc.) from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or equivalent.
For B.Des and GDPD: Candidates who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2025-26 in any stream (science, arts, commerce, etc.) from any recognised board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent. The upper age limit for candidates belonging to the general category is 20 years. The age relaxation is provided to candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD/ OBC-NCL. Below is a step-by-step breakdown of the NID DAT 2025 Admission Procedure, from application submission to seat allocation:
Complete the Application Form : Those who meet the requirements must accurately complete the form and send it by the deadline.
When filling out the form, provide only accurate and verified information. Keep in mind that all information will be verified when seat assignments and NID DAT Counseling Occur. The candidates might not be accepted if there is any discrepancy discovered.
Download Admit Card : The candidates must bring both the admit card and a legitimate photo ID as proof of identity of the day of the exam. Check DAT Prelims Result : To view the results, enter your date of birth, roll number, or application number, along with your email address. Candidates selection the DAT Mains will be based on their DAT Preliminary scores.
Download the DAT Mains Admit Card : Admit cards, which must be downloaded online, will be sent to all registered candidates. Take a printout of the admission card after downloading it.
Attend the NID DAT Mains : The DAT Mains will consist of a studio test, and candidates for the M.Des Program will also need to participate in an online interview phase. During the NID studio exam, candidates are given practical, hands-on activities that they have to finish in the allotted time.
