NEET PG Selection Procedure

The candidates may kindly note that appearance in NEET-PG does not confer any automatic rights to secure a postgraduate MD/MS/Post Graduate Diploma seat.

The selection and admission to postgraduate seats in any medical institutions recognised for running MD/MS/Post Graduate Diploma courses as per Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 is subject to fulfilling the admission criteria, eligibility, medical fitness and such criteria as may be prescribed by the respective universities, medical institutions, Medical Council of India, State/Central Government.

The candidates may note that NBE has no role regarding counselling and allotment of MD/MS/PG Diploma seats. NBE will not entertain any queries regarding availability of seats, counselling and allotment of MD/MS/PG Diploma seats.


For counselling to be conducted by DGHS:

  • For information regarding reservations in institutions for which counselling shall be conducted by DGHS, please visit Medical Counseling Committee website

For States/Union Territories - 50% State Quota Seats and Private Medical Colleges/ Institutes/Universities/Deemed Universities:

  • Reservation policy and guidelines applicable in different states/UnionTerritories of India will be followed for the respective State/Union territory quota seats
  • NBE shall be providing only the data of candidates and the marks scored by them in NEET-PG to the State Governments / Counseling Authority without applying the reservation prevalent in the concerned States/Private Medical Colleges/Institutes/Universities
  • The merit list and category wise merit list for the concerned State shall be generated by the State themselves as per applicable regulations, qualifying criteria, applicable guidelines and reservation policies

For Armed Forces Medical Service Institutions:

Candidates opting for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma seats in Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) Institutions shall select the following option in the NEET-PG 2021 online application form:

There is no certain reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates in the Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.

List of colleges accepting the scores of this exam:

As per the new orders, norms & conditions of the official board, all the private/deemed/govt. medical colleges are to accept NEET-PG 2020 scores. Moreover, 114 colleges under NEET-PG 2020. Apart from these, the following medical institutions are not covered by centralized admissions for MD/MS seats through NEET-PG for 2021 session:

  1. AIIMS, New Delhi
  2. PGIMER, Chandigarh
  3. JIPMER, Puducherry
  4. NIMHANS, Bengaluru
  5. Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum
