CLAT - The Common Law Admission (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) Law Programmes offered by 24 National Law Universities in India
CLAT is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities, comprising representative universities. Several affiliates universitis and organisations also use the CLAT exam for admissions and recriutment respectively.
Till 2018, CLAT was conducted on a rotation basis by NLUs. However, from 2019 onwards the CLAT will be conducted by a permanent body, ''Consortium of NLUs'' formed by NLUs. The body has its headquarters at NLSIU Bangalore.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (CLAT) 2025 has extended the registration process till 22 October, 2024. THe CLAT Last date for submission of CLAT 2025 online applications (for noth U.G. and P.G Programmes)has been extended up to 11:59 of 22nd October, 2024 (Tuesday), Earlier it was 15 October, 2024. Apart from 22 NLUs, many private institutions across the country accept the CLAT scores. Check the list of institutions/universities below which have signed an MoU with the CLAT Consortium to use the CLAT scores.
Candidates who are taking admissions to NLUs through CLAT 2025 must check the eligibility criteria for their respective courses.
The participating NLUs will also check that a shortised candidate fulfills the eligibility criteria or not.
1. There is be no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Programme through the CLAT 2025.
2. Candidates must secure the following minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination).
a. Forty Five Percent (45%) Marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General / OBC / PwD / NRI / PIO / OCI / Categories.
b. Forty Percent (40%) Marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC / ST Candidates.
3. Candidates who may be appearing for their qualifying examination in March / April, 2025 are also eligible to appear for the CLAT 2025 Examination. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
4. The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the course they have applied for.

The CLAT will be conducted in offline mode. It is an objective-paper and the total duration is two hours. Each correct answer will be awarded one mark and 0.25 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer.The examination will be conducted in English language only.
CLAT 2025 for UG Courses is based on five subjects - English Language, Current Affairs Including General Knowledge, Logical Resoning, Quantitative Techniques & Legal Reasoning.

The CLAT counselling is conducted by the consortium shortly after the CLAT 2025 result is announced.It creates an invite list of shortlisted candidates.The number of candidates on the CLAT invite list is five times greater than the number of CLAT seats available in each category.This means that roughly 1600 individuals will be invited to complete for approximately 3200 setats in 5-year integrated LLB Programs.In contrast, around 6000 individuals will be invited to fill 130 CLAT PG Seats.Candidates will be assigned NLUs depending on their marks and the NLU preferences they indicated when filling out the exam form.
The Consortium of NLU's Official Website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in, will host the online counseling procedure for the CLAT.The dates of CLAT 2025 Counseling has been released by the Consortium, Before the deadline, shortlised candidates for the CLAT 2025 admission process will be notified of their ability to accept, modify or withdraw from the seat allocation procedure.CLAT 2025 Counselling will start from December 11, 2024 and registration process for counselling will take place from 11 to 20 Dececmber, 2024.To secure a seat, applicants or those who accept seat upgrades must pay the confirmation fee.If past year trends are followed, the admission procedure for CLAT is anticipated to culimate in five rounds of counseling.
The entire CLAT 2025 counseling procedure takes place online, including registration, merit list publication, and seat assignment based on candidates' indicated choices.In any round of counseling, candidates have the option to accept, upgrade, or withdraw from their assigned seat.After selecting a seat, individuals can finalize their enrollment by making the necessary payments for counseling and the entrance fee.The Counseling process for CLAT 2025 was divided into five rounds.

Candidates who paticipate in CLAT 2025 counselling will be considered for admission to National Law Schools.Seats will be assigned based on merit and choice.After the seats are assigned, candidates will have the choice to accept the seat, apply for an upgrade, or withdraw from the admission process.
Those who accept the admission offer must pay the NLU course costs to the university of their choice.It should be emphasised that candidates will only be considered for admission to MLUs that were on their NLU priority List.

The Consortium of National Law Universities has released the exam day guidelines for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025.Candidates who are appearing for the CLAT 2025 exam can check the guidelines on the official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in.The CLAT 2025 exam will be conducted on 01 December, 2024 and the exam will be conducted in a single shift, timings from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Reporting to the Test Centre and Test Timings
a.Candidates are permitted to enter the test centres premises from 1:00 PM onwards and shall be seated at their respective seats in the Hall / Classroom by 1:30 PM.
b.Once the candidate enters the Hall / Classroom, he / she shall not be permitted to leave the Hall / Classroom before 4:00 PM.
c.Candidates shall not be allowed to enter the test Hall / Classroom after 2:15 PM.
d.The test is for 2 (Two) hours duration and shall commence sharp at 2:00 PM.For PwD/SAP candidates, the Test is for 2 Hours 40 Minutes - till 4:40 PM.
e.Candidates shall not be allowed to use the washroom after commencement of the test.
