The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on January 4, 2026 in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.
Unlike other exams, XAT does not follow a rigid exam structure; instead, its pattern tends to vary slightly every year. This flexibility makes the exam dynamic, with minor modifications observed in the question paper annually.
More than 160 management institues, including XLRI and XAT Associate Institutes, accept XAT Scores for their MBA Admission process. While applying to XLRI can be done via the XAT form, candidates interested in other XAT-participating institutes must apply to them individually.

The XAT 2026 Exam pattern requires applicants to solve MCQs in a constrained period. The XAT Question Paper 2026 will consist of three parts that must be answered within the allotted time. The XAT 2026 question paper will be divided into three sections: a 5-minutes keyboard test, a GK Section, and a short essay topic (30 Minutes). The first section will cover decision-making, verbal and logical ability, quantitative ability and data interpretation, PwD applicants will receive twenty extra minutes for each segment.
The XAT 2026 exam consist of the following sections:
XAT 2026 question paper will be divided into two parts and the exam duration is of 3 hours, i.e. from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Every section of XAT 2026 will contain 22-27 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with five options from which to select the correct response. The only area where candidates must type their responses (about 250 words) is the essay writing section. When the PI Shortlist is created, the essay will be assessed. Its score won't be included in the 2026 XAT Syllabus.
