Xavier Aptitude Test Syllabus

Xavier Aptitude Test 2026 (XAT) exam is scheduled to be held on 04 January, 2026 - Sunday, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in online mode across test centres in India.

While the official status for XAT 2026 is yet to be released by XLRI, a tentative syllabus has been curated based on previous years' exam patterns and question papers. Notably, the Essay Writing section will not be part of XAT 2026 as per the current exam structure.

With limited seats and intense competition, candidates are advised to thoroughly practice previous years' question papers to get familiar with the exam format. Careerindia is offering downloadable previous year papers to assist aspirants in their preparation.

Xavier Aptitude Test 2026 Exam is going to be conducted on 04 January, 2026.

XAT Exam has 5 Sections and the XAT Syllabus 2026 is also divided into following 5 Sections.

  • Verbal and Logical Ability (VA & LR)

  • Decision Making (DM)

  • Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation (QA & DI)

  • General Knowledge (GK)

  • Essay Writing Test.

XAT Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2026.

XAT 2026 in online Computer-Based Test (CBT). The aggregate maximum marks in XAT Exam are 100 for 100 MCQ type questions divided into 4 Sections & additional 1-3 Marks for Essay Writing Test.

Students have to understand the syllabus before preparing for the examination. Below table gives

Essay Writing Test

1 Descriptive Topic

10 Minutes

A candidate has to attempt 72+25 question in the time duration of 180 minutes.

Marking Scheme : Each question will carry one mark. 1/4th of the total marks allotted to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer. There is negative marking of 0.10 marks

for unattempted questions as well, beyond 8.
