JEE Main Examination Pattern

National Testing Agency (NTA) has made the JEE Main 2024 Ecam pattern availabe on the official website - jeemain.

nta.nic.in. Candidates must visit the official website & check the information bulletin about the JEE Main 2025 Exam pattern. The JEE Main January Session (I) Exam will be conducted between 22 January to 31 January, 2025. The Examination length, marking style, subjects, total makrs, and other details will be included in the JEE Main 2025 exam pattern. Candidates who are interested and studying for the IIT JEE Test should throughly review the JEE Main exam pattern 2025 in advance. The JEE Main 2025 exam will be held in two sessions: January & April, 2025. Candidates can download the previous years's JEE Mains questions Papers to better understand the JEE Mains test format.

The JEE Main test pattern differs for Paper 1 & Paper 2. Both sessions will, however use the same JEE Main Paper design. Each topic for Paper 1 of the JEE Main 2025 test format consists of 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 10 numerical value questions, only 5 of which are required.

JEE Main 2025 shall have two papers, i.e. Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B.Planning) and candidates may take one, or two paper as per the aspirant seeking admission to.

JEE Main Exam Pattern 2025: Type of Questions

Each subject will have two portions, according to the IIT JEE test structure.

Section A will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and Section B will consist of questions with numerical answers. Sections B requires applicants to attempt any 05 (five) questions out of a possible 10. Both Section A and Section B will receive negative marking. A candidate must input the right integar value of the response for each question in Section B using the mouse and the no-screen virtual numeric keyboard assigned to enter the answer. Section B requires that the answer be rounded to the closest integer.

Paper 1 Exam Pattern (B.E/B.Tech):

  • The candidates with a disability should fill in the type and percentages of disability correctly in the online application form
  • In JEE Main, Paper 1 will be conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering courses with various optional specialisations and the examination will be a Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • For Paper 1, the questions in this exam will have from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics subjects
  • A total number of 75 MCQs, 25 from each subject and the duration of the examination will be 180 minutes
  • One should note that 20 questions will be MCQs and 5 questions will have answer to be filled as a numerical value.
  • Each correct marked answer will get +4 marks and if the students have marked the wrong answer -1 mark will be deducted from candidates score
  • A medium of paper will be in English and Hindi. If the student filling the exam centres in Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Dadra and Nagar Havel cities will have the option to opt English, Hindi, or Gujarati Medium

Paper 2 Exam Pattern (B.Arch):

In JEE Main, Paper 2 will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) and it is going to be conducted for admission to undergraduate architecture courses
For Paper 2 test a candidates aptitude in the field of Mathematics and Drawing Ability and it consist of a total number of 77 question, 50 question for aptitude test, 2 question for drawing test and 20+5 question from mathematics with a duration of 180 minutes

Each correct marked answer will get +4 marks and if the students have marked the wrong answer +1 mark will be deducted from candidates score
A medium of paper will be in English and Hindi. If the student filling the exam centres in Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Dadra and Nagar Havel cities will have the option to opt English, Hindi, or Gujarati Medium
