JNUEE / JNU CUET Selection Procedure

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE), conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), selection procedure varies depending upon the programme or course.

 

Aspirants should note that there is no viva voce for admission to any programme except for M.Phil and Ph.D. The merit list will be prepared based on their performance in the Computer Based Test (CBT). 

Aspirants who are aiming for admission to M.Phil and Ph.D will be called for the Computer Based Test (CBT) and candidates qualifying with 50% marks for General Category and 45% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ PWD category in the online written exam shall be called for viva voce examination. The merit lists will be prepared for each category i.e. candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PWD categories separately. 

Candidates aspiring for admission to DOP Bhasha Indonesia, DOP in Hebrew and DOP in Mongolian based on merit as per the performance in Certificate of Proficiency in the respective language.

It is advised to refer the JNUEE information bulletin or JNUEE e-prospectus for detailed information regarding the selection procedure. One can also access the detailed information about admission to JRF holders to M.Phil and Ph.D programme and admission to Foreign Nationals to M.Phil and Ph.D programmes. 

JNU Admission for 2024 is presently open. According to the NIRF 2023 Rankings, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is placed second in the "University Category" and tenth in "Overall". Admission to Jawaharlal Nehru University courses is by an entrance examination. Furthermore, JNU Admission to BA (Hons.) in Foreign Languages, B.Sc-M.Sc Integrated Programme in Ayurveda Biology, and Certificate of Proficiency courses is based on CUET-UG Results.

JNU Admission Process 2024

JNU's Admission process is entrance-based. Admission to various undergraduate courses at JNU will be through CUET-UG. To take the JNU CUET UG tests, you must first download your JNU Admit Card. National Level exams scores from JEE Main and CAT are also acceptable for B.Tech and MBA Programmes. The Selection Criteria differ from one course to another.

The following sections provide information on each stage of the admission process.

Step 1: JNU Application Process 2024

The initial step in the JNU Couse admission process is to register online. Eligible candidates can apply online at the JNU Official website (jnu.ac.in). Candidates applying for courses through CUET should have indicated JNU as a preference during the application process. Furthermore, candidates must keep track of critical dates to prevent missing the JNU Application deadline.

Step 2: Selection Rounds / Release of Selection List

Following the application procedure, individuals are shortlisted based on their respective admission exam scores (MBA and BTech). These shortlisted candidates must then go through the selection phases, which include group discussions and personal interviews, before a final list is revealed. The university will release a merit list or cutoff for CUET Admissions.

Step 3: Counselling

Selected candidates must participate in JNU counselling for course admission (Save for MBA). During the counselling process, verification and seat allocation are performed.

Step 4: Admission Confirmation

In the last round, qualified candidates may be required to go through a document verification round. Following that, candidates may be asked to pay part of the fees inorder to secure their position.

What is the JNU CUET Counselling Process 2024?

Candidates who took the CUET-UG exam can now apply for JNU UG and Certificate of Proficiency (COP) courses. Some of the courses that recognize CUET Scores  are BA (Hons) in Foreign Languages, B.Sc-M.Sc Integrated course in Ayurveda and COP Programs. Admission is offered to both the JNU School of Languages, Literature and Cultural Studies and the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies. Aspirants must meet the course-specific eligibility requirements. Selection is based on the CUET Score and deprivation points. Furthermore, the stages involved in the JNU Admission process via CUET are described below:

Step 1 : Visit the official website (jnu.ac.in) to register and create login credentials.

Step 2 : Log in with your ID and Password to begin filling out the application form and uploading documents. Candidates may also need to provide their CUET scorecard.

Step 3 : Review the information carefully and submit the form.

Step 4: After the registration procedure is completed, merit lists are released, which can be accessed online by inputting the application number & password.

Step 5 : Selected candidates can confirm their seats by paying the applicable fee or as advised by the University.
