AIBE Selection Procedure

AIBE - All India Bar Examination is a national-level entrance examination is conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI).

The All India Bar Examination were considered and approved by the Bar Council of India at its meeting held on 30th April, 2010, wherein it was decided by the Council that the examination shall be mandatory for all law students graduating from the academic year 2009-2010 onwards, and that candidates may apply to appear in the examination only after enrolling as advocates under section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961. The Objective of the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is to examine an advocate's capability of practice the profession of law in India. The AIBE will assess skills at a basic level, and is intended to set a minimum benchmark for admission to the practice law; it addresses a candidate's analytical abilities and understanding basic knowledge of law. After passing the examination candidate will be awarded "Certificate of Practice" by the Bar Council of India.

AIBE is a certification exam conducted twice a year by the Bar Council of India of Law graduates willing to start practice as Lawyer. The exam is conducted in 50 cities having 140 centres as an open book. Candidates will have 23 Languages to choose for attempting the examination.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has issued the timetable for the 19th qualification test for Indian National's All applicants with a legal degree from a foreign University are eligible to take the BCI 19th qualification test. The dates for the BCI 19th qualifying exams have been revealed. The qualifying exam will be held from 24 November, 2024. The Bar Council of India is located at 21, Rouse Avenue, Institutional Area, New Delhi- 110002. The BCI 19th Exam will be held from 11 AM to 2:00 PM.

Candidates should be aware that the paper will be three hours long and worth 100 marks, according to the BCI Quailfying exam format 2024.

Candidates will be authorised to bring bare actions and books, including question answer guides, notes, and others, inside the exam venue.

How to get Certificate of Practice after passing AIBE 2024?

Those who are considered to be qualified based on the AIBE Requirements are eligible to take the AIBE Test and get an AIBE Certificate of Practice. The following section describes the steps for getting the AIBE Certificate of practice.

To register for the AIBE Test, go to the BCI Website.
Write the AIBE exam at the designated exam site on the set date and time.
Compare your results to the AIBE Cut-off scores for your category.
Check the BCI's Official website for the results' formal announcement.
After passing the exam, you must travel to the state's Bar Council of India to get the AIBE practice certificate.

Criteria for getting Certificate of Practice

The Bar Council of India has released a list of the qualifications needed to write and register for the exam.

You must have completed a five-year integrated LLB Program or a four-year BA LLB Program.
There is no defind age limit for taking the AIBE Test.
There is no set number of times you can take the test. The AIBE test, on the other hand, is usually given twice a year.
The AIBE Certificate of Practice is one of the most important qualifications for persons who desire to practise law in the country. Candidates from all three classes, however, are eligible to take the AIBE test.

Senior Attorneys

Attorneys who have finished the legal school but have not yet been added to the list of non-practicing attorneys.
Lawyers who wish to register as Supreme Court Advocates.

The AIBE 19 Cut-off will be released alongside the result by the Bar Council of India (BCI).

The AIBE qualifying marks for 2023 have already been adjusted, according to the BCI. According to the updated standards, the AIBE cut off is 45% for general and OBC applicants, and 40% for SC/CT applicants. Only applicants who score equal to or higher than the AIBE 19 cut off will be considered qualified for the AIBE 19 exam. Previously, BCI raised the AIBE Cut off for 2023 from 40% to 35% for general / OBC and SC / ST, respectively, to the present levels.

It should be remembered that after the tentative answer key for AIBE 19 is released, BCI will start the objections window for candidates. The candidates' complaints will then be reviewed by the authorities. If certain questions are eliminated or other modifications are made to the final answer jey, the AIBE 19 cutoff marks may vary if the authorities accept student concerns and remove some questions from the answer key.

AIBE 19 Minimum Passing Criteria 2023

AINE Test has a minimum passing score set by the Bar Council of India. The Minimum passing score for candidates in the general and OBC categories is 45%. The minimum qualifying scores for SC and ST applicants are 40%. If some questions are removed from the AIBE reassessment, the cutoff marks fall, but the passing percentage remains unchanged. Candidates who do not meet the minimum qualifying marks for AIBE 19 will be required to retake the exam.
