Annually, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board conducts the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering, architecture and pharmacy. The qualified candidates in the WBJEE exam can seek admission in universities, government colleges and self-financed institutes of West Bengal.
Candidates must meet the required eligibility criteria in order to appear for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). The organising body has clearly specified the academic requirements along with pass percentage and age limits for admissions to the engineering, architecture and pharmacy courses.
Candidates must be a citizen of India to apply for WBJEE 2022. Candidates must be 17 years of age as on December 31, 2022. A candidate should have been born on or before December 31, 2005. There is no upper age limit in appearing for WBJEE. However, for admission to the degree level Marine Engineering course, the lower age limit is 17 years as on December 31, 2022 and the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2022.
Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination, i.e., the 10+2 in 2022 are also eligible to apply for the WBJEE 2022. However, they are not eligible for allotment of seat for admission if a candidate does not pass the qualifying examination with the minimum required eligibility criteria.
There is no residential/domicile requirement to appear for the WBJEE. However, candidates belonging to the West Bengal state are only eligible for admission to any Government aided Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy College. Also, candidates belonging to reserved category are also eligible for admission.
Candidates have to note that only those will be treated as the domicile of West Bengal who are either residing in West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 years or whose parents are permanent residents of West Bengal having a permanent address within the State of West Bengal.
Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination with an aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST/PwD)
They must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subjects (Engineering Drawing/Computer Science) as optional subjects
They must have secured at least 30% marks in English (applicable for candidates from all categories)
Candidates must also have individual pass marks in each of Physics, Mathematics, English as well as the optional subject chose (Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subjects (Engineering Drawing/Computer Science)
Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2021.
Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination
They must have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with an aggregate of 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwD)
They must have secured at least 30% marks in English ( applicable for candidates from all categories)
Candidates must also have individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English
Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2022.
