Board examinations play a significant role in deciding the career of a student. The board examinations are usually conducted at the end of Class 10 (Secondary School Certificate) and Class 12 (Higher Secondary Certificate). There are various boards across the country that include both national and state-level. Each board varies from one another in syllabi and exam pattern. The examinations are generally held between February and March, and the results are usually declared in May/June.

CBSE Exam

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national-level board backed by the government. All the schools affiliated to this board should follow the curriculum of the NCERT. The main objective of CBSE is to prescribe conditions of examinations and conduct public examination at the end of Class 10 and Class 12. The CBSE provides qualifying certificates to successful candidates of the affiliated schools.

CISCE Exam

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) was established with a mission to provide high-quality educational endeavours besides creating exciting learning opportunities. Annually, the CISCE conducts examinations – the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) for Class 10 and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) for Class 12 and the Certificate in Vocational Education (CVE - Year 12).

State Board

The board examinations conducted for Class 10 and Class 12 by the State Boards are no lesser to the national-level boards. These State Boards are taken care by the respective state governments. Every year, the State Boards conduct the examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 in between February and March. The board is also vested with the authority to issue the certificate to successful candidates. Here are the most preferred State Boards in the country.
