Under the guidelines of Maharashtra Act No. 41 of 1965, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, Pune 411004, was constituted as an autonomous body. The HSC and SSC Exams are administered by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in the state of Maharashtra by way of its nine Divisional Boards, which are situated in Pune, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nasik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, Nagpur, and Ratnagiri. The Board holds exams twice a year, with around 14 lac HSC and 17 lac SSC students showing up for the main exam. For the supplementary exam, approximately 6 lac HSC and SSC students are anticipated. Throughout the entire state, there are roughly 21000 schools (SSC) and 7000 Higher Secondary Schools/Junior Colleges (HSC).
