The Passing of Assam Secondary Education Act, 1961 (Assam Act, XXV of 1961) enabled the establishment of a Board Secondary to oversee, direct and progress Secondary Education in the State of Assam. The Act became effective on 29 January 1962, with the issuance of the Government of Assam, Education Department Notification No. 159/61/37. As a result, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (Often obbreviated SEBA) was established. It began to function during the 1962 11-year H.S.S.L. Exams. In accordance with the Act, the Assam Government established the Board and appointed Md. N. Islam, Inspector of Schools (Central Assam Circle), as secretary and chairman.
The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) have officially released the Assam HSLC Class 10 & Assam HS (Class 12) Exam Time Table 2026 for students appearing in the upcoming state board examinations.
