KCET 2018 is scheduled to be held on 18 and 19 April. There are totally five subjects that are the source of questions in KCET. Depending on the course that a candidate wants to enrol in, the subjects and syllabus for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test will vary. Pure Science students can leave out Math syllabus while Engineering aspirants can leave out the Biology syllabus.
While the qualification to attend the entrance exam requires only a minumum percentage of marks, cracking the entrance exam requires rigorous preparation by learning the frequently asked questions and practising KCET previous years question papers.

Tips
- Memorise the definitions.
- Do not overlook studying problems because it is harder than theory. Learn the basic concepts and formulae thoroughly. Proceed with solving complex problems.
- Electricity (law, circuits and formulae)
- Magnetism (theory, formula)
- Light (Scattering, Huygens' principle)
- Atoms (electrons, neutrons, problems)
- Logic gates
- Balance your studying time for Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Allocate time for both. Do not skip one of them because you love the other.
- While theory is easy to understand, equations need a bit of effort to understand. Get the help of a senior or a teacher to understand the basic concepts of Inorganic Chemistry strongly. You could manage on your own for higher levels if you know the basics well.
- Atomic structures
- Reactions (equations)
- Solids
- Van't Hoffs factor
- Electrolysis
- Write down the list of formulae in each chapter.
- Memorise formulae and solve at least one sum that uses each formula.
- Practise previous years question papers.
- Calculus (differential and integral)
- Trignometry (theory, formulae, angles)
- Quotients and exponents
- Functions and relations
- Take a keen interest in the plant and living entities' anatomy.
- Appreciate the wonder of the structures as you read and understand various body functions.
- Learn all the technical terms. (Remember to highlight them in the exam)
- Start preparing early because biological terms take grasping time.
- Cells (basics, cell biology, cell divisions)
