Written By: Sashikanth Sai

Be it a school student, collegeor university graduate, starting from March to June, every individual undergoes a lot of stress or panic because of back-to-back examinations. These four months are absolutely important for preparations and to stay focused. So it's important to set their brain cool and calm all the time because a fresh mind can absorb well.

In order to keep the mind fresh specifically during the exam time, students should take the study breaks at regular intervals. Taking breaks for every forty five minutes will enable you to stay focused. Students should also know how the study breaks are going to benefit them in increasing their productivity. Here's why study breaks are important.

To Minimise Your Stress

Obviously, students are more exposed to stress and panic during preparation. There is no issue if you feel slightly stressful, because it is common for everyone during preparation. But, if you're not able to concentrate, then you should immediately address this issue. Take some stress reduction activities during the breaks will help you to minimise the stress levels.

To Increase Your Confidence

Studying for thelong hours without taking any breaks will decrease your confidence. How? As you are not giving enough time to your brain to organise the concepts, you will find ambiguity in relating the concepts that will ultimately affect your confidence level as well.

To Increase Your Memory

Taking a small break in the form of a nap will boost your memory. Typically, 15-20 minutes of nap after a long study will rejuvenate your brain cells. The power nap also helps you to reorganise the thoughts and correlate the new information with the existing one.

To Boost Your Productivity

Studying for the long-hours without taking a break will surely drain and exhaust you. Taking a study break will make you grasp the information in less time. Hence, you can cover many concepts in less time.

How To Use Study Breaks Effectively?

Once you've decided to take the study breaks, you should use them in a productive way. Here are some refreshing activities you can do to make your study breaks effective:

  • Go for brisk walking which will help in the smooth blood flow.
  • Sitting for the long hours will effect on your muscles. Stretching out your muscles will provide greater relaxation.
  • Take a shower, which rejuvenates your brain and body.
  • Do meditation and breathing exercises, which will help you concentrate.
  • Use the study breaks to cool your hunger. However, eating too much will make you drowsy.
  • As we mentioned above, take power naps at regular intervals.
  • Boost your energy with dancing or painting, however, too much of either is not suggested.
