The Karnataka SSLC board exams will beginning from tomorrow (Mar 23, 2018). Udupi has been one of the top ranking districts in Karnataka when it comes for highest pass percentage in SSLC. Udupi usually emerges in the first rank among other districts.

Last year, however, the first position was grabbed by Mangalore and Udupi lost by 1.01 %. This year, the district is gearing up again to catch what they lost the previous year.

However, the main focus is made on helping the weak students and increasing the pass percentage rather than the competition with other districts. Even half working days on Saturdays in schools were being stretched to full day classes for students who failed in the preparatory exams.

On the other hand, bright students were also being given special training to obtain A and A+ grades in their exams. Last year, 14,371 students from Udupi appeared for the SSLC exams in 52 centres.

Karnataka SSLC Exams are Near, Tips to Score

How can schools coach students to score in SSLC?

Stretching the school timings can make students tiresome, however, when it is a necessity to uplift students by dedicating more time, it is wiser to break the time allocated with different activities engaging students to get involved rather than tired.

What are the activities that can be done in class for revision?

Questionnaire Hour

This is one of the best ways to find out how much students have prepared in comparison with their classmates and thereby concentrate on those who have not prepared. Students might also be on alert to not be embarrassed in class in front of their classmates during this session and specially prepare for it. This activity would make the class lively and you can make the rest of them learn the answers to the questions they missed out.

Objectives Type Test

Objective type questions are easy to score and at the same time, easy to lose as they are marked for very less already and there can be no grace marks for half answers. So, conduct objectives test, with a perk of excluding it from external assessment so that it is not one more burden added to students' stress but a way for them to learn additionally. Some schools prepone their working hours and call it zero hours and mark it for such tests.

Offer Study Time in Class

Although schools may keep conducting a series of lessons and continuous tests, students would already get tired by the time they get home and might lose out on the time they get to prepare. Another advantage of letting them study in class is that it gives them a scope for group study and make the session interesting. Mark the important questions and allocate time for the students and encourage them to finish studying within the given time.

Make Reading Easy

Mark the answers for questions in the textbook during class hours and break the answers into points to remember. Some times writing answers in points would help students gain more marks than writing in a paragraph. Points are always easy to remember and present. So emphasise on keywords and pointers to help students score.

Talk Students Into It

A teacher's motivation and advise becomes easily impressed in a student's heart than anyone else's. Make them aim for higher and keep feeding positivity into them even if they don't fair well. Let them believe that they can do more always and encourage them to keep trying harder. They need all possible positivity to achieve good ranks and keep giving it to them.
