Vanavil Mandram: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched Vanavil Mandram (Rainbow Forum), a unique project to stimulate scientific interest among school kids, on Monday, 28 November. Its goal is to pique the interest of kids in grades 6 through 8 in learning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The ceremony was inaugurated at the Pappakurichi Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Kattur. New Initiatives: Science And Mathematics
In addition, the Chief Minister launched 100 mobile science and mathematics laboratories on behalf of the School Education Department to install a scientific mindset in students. They would teach students science experiments and maths every month, with competent supervision, and display student-created science tools. The plan is expected to cost Rs 25 crore and benefit 25 lakh government school children.
Facilitators Of The Programme
Later, the Chief Minister toured classrooms where students were conducting science projects under the supervision of teachers and chatted with them. Special training has been provided to teachers around the state who have shown an interest in participating in the programme to share the strategies they have utilised in the classroom thus far and submit suggestions for the program's continuing deployment. Around 710 STEM facilitators from Tamil Nadu have been chosen to conduct this programme, and they will operate as mobile science and mathematics experimenters. They will also assist children in grades 6th through 8th in conducting simple science experiments.
