What Learning Strategies Do Quick Learners Follow

By Anuj Mishra

We often hear people say that nature has given the same amount of brain to everyone and we all have equal intellectual abilities. We all can learn and memorise anything we want. But if that's the case, why do some students learn concepts quickly when compared to others? Why do they remember theories for a long time and represent it in the examination better than the rest?

At some point, we all have been bothered by these questions. We look at the extraordinary students around us and start feeling inferior, which often results in acquiring a pessimistic attitude. Later, our grades are affected more by such stressful thoughts, more than they would be if we studied lesser.

Learning Strategies For Quick Learners

Before you get into this dilemma, know that neither do those students have more brains than you nor are they gifted with special powers. What differs are just the techniques which they implement while studying which result in better performance. Let's see a few of such techniques which can make anyone a quick learner.

Be Aware Of your Learning Technique

There's no denying that we are all intelligent, but every individual has their own way of acquiring knowledge. It can be divided into three basic types including words, visuals and audio clips. Some may remember visuals better than words while some are good at remembering audio clips. Identify which one is the best technique for you and follow it accordingly.

Make Pointers

A complex concept takes time to study and understand and though it is understood completely, same amount of time is spent while doing the revisions before exams. For avoiding this and saving time, prepare a short book of pointers which consists of only the important points acting as a summary to long answers. Take our word for it, those quick learners don't fail to do this.

Dig Deeper Into The Subject

Once you have understood a complex theory, it is not the time to celebrate. Instead, dig deeper into the concept as to why a certain thing happens. This leads to deeper knowledge of the subject, ultimately resulting in remembering the answers for a longer period.

Use Technology

The Internet is an ocean of knowledge and a single piece of information is available in a variety of ways. Why waste time on social media or browsing other inappropriate content when you can learn from the Internet? There are various question-answer websites where you can clear your doubts from experts or avail the benefits of video lectures available online.

Experiment With Your Surrounding

It's a proven fact that your brain grasps concepts faster while studying under the sunlight as opposed to studying under bulbs or tube lights. Similarly, you can keep experimenting with your ambiance and surroundings. It is not mandatory to study on the desk if you feel better in a gallery.

Learn From Your Mistakes

Now, this is one of the tips which every performer follows. We have main semester exams in schools or colleges, but we have to appear for unit tests before that. We can learn from the mistakes we make during those unit tests and rectify them during the finals.

Being stressed or demotivated by your disappointing performances in the past won't do any good to you. Use them as a tool to make sure you don't repeat those mistakes.
