A prerequisite here would be prior background knowledge in the field you are translating in. This is all the way truer in case of technical or scientific translations. Good business and marketing skills are an absolute must for anyone who intends to freelance in this field because there is a lot of competition here.

2. Interpreter

For those of you who are unsure about the difference between a translator and an interpreter, the difference here is that a translator deals with written text, whereas, an interpreter is more bothered about spoken words.

Since words are blurted out colloquially and spontaneously, an interpreter needs to be equally spontaneous and accurate and this makes their job all the way more challenging.

In most cases where an interpreter is required (interpreting between a doctor and their patients, politicians from two different nations, etc.) the words spoken can have a disastrous impact if not interpreted correctly. This makes an interpreter’s job very important.

3. Language Teacher

While everyone seems to think that a native language teacher will always teach a language better, the fact seems to differ. This is because any non-native teacher has had their share of challenges while learning the language.
