The world is modernising in every aspect and so are the ways people work and earn. Gone are those days when everyone would dream of a job and after getting it, would feel content with their fixed salary and work. But now, people like to push their limits and take up challenges.

In other words, everyone wants to earn extra money by doing extra work on their own outside their office by utilising the skills they have acquired in their professional life. In short, everyone wants to freelance.

Freelance In India With A Full-time Job

Also, there's nothing wrong in that. If you have certain capabilities which can be used to make extra money, you should go for it. Also, you might have a talent, different from your profession, which can yield you huge bucks. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. Working full-time job can already be gruelling and taking up other assignments and delivering them on time could be unimaginable.

But, it is possible if you execute and manage everything strategically. There are certain points you need to remember while freelancing so as to not let it affect your full-time job.

Finalise Your Objective

Before your venture into the field of freelancing, you should contemplate and finalise your objective of doing it.

You might want to start freelancing full-time in the future or you may want to get into a new profession through this - Whether it will be fruitful for you? Think and set your objectives practically and smartly, which will avoid any misfortunes in your career ahead.

Make A Foolproof Schedule

The very first aspect which you will need to look after while starting to freelance is time. Working for an organisation while doing assignments for outside clients could make you invest a lot of your time. In order to manage both efficiently, you need to make a schedule which gives you enough time for your office as well as your freelance assignments.

Don't Be Greedy

Once you complete a considerable amount of time in the freelance business, you may start getting a lot of project offers. However, you shouldn't forget your speed of working and stamina and make the number of contracts accordingly. Delay in submission due to a lot of work being crammed up can hinder your reputation in the freelance market, thereby, putting your future prospects in danger.

Identify The Ideal Clients

Undoubtedly, it is tough to reject a profitable contract. But, in order to avoid professional disturbances, you need to withdraw from accepting offers which you think aren't suitable for you. You need to ponder on whether the amount of freelance work is manageable in your dedicated time to freelancing. It's better to reject assignments beforehand rather than spoiling them after accepting them.

Build A Portfolio

The portfolio is the first representation of your capabilities in front of the client. Any employer will judge you by your portfolio and not by your claims that you can do the work. Prepare a portfolio which includes all the projects you have done in the past.

In today's world, a portfolio website is more impactful than showing your work on paper. So, it is better to create an impactful website which shows your past work, clients and, if possible, testimonials.

Ask The Right Price

Freelancing while working for a full-time job already seems to be an intensely tough task. However, if you are brave enough to take the leap, the price you receive should be worth it. Just because you do freelancing part-time doesn't mean you ask for a small amount. It's important to set the right price tag.

However, asking for too high an amount in the initial stages can also make the clients reluctant about offering you the project.

Remember What's More Important

Earning extra money out of your monthly salary could be a delightful thought but you shouldn't mess with your full-time job, which is a reliable and sustained source of income. The number of freelance clients could fluctuate every month but your salary won't (it might rise though).
