Connecting with your students: How do you sustain teaching as work?

How do you sustain teaching as work?

Why do you teach? How important is it for you to connect with your students?

One of the prestigious responsibilities to change the world for the better, is to teach. As a teacher, making sure that teaching is the most effective and most enjoyable way to change the world, would be your significant achievement. Teaching students to discover their own selves is the uttermost challenge that may tower your career. Even so, aiming to transform them on the inside could awaken a great deal of learning excitement in them.

According to recent discovery or research conducted in the sphere of gathering new information, it was astonishing to learn that the degree of available knowledge has doubled during the last few years. Teaching must involve an element of hunger for knowledge. If it is rightly inculcated, you are actually empowering people to become substantially educated and liberated human beings, who would in turn change the world for the better.

As compared with any other non-teaching professions, there's something within us (non-teachers) that just can't draw enough patience or tolerance to guide, show, lead another person to the right direction or elevate them to a better level in life; be it writing, reading, listening, or speaking. Teachers are born to be what they are, and to do what they are capable of doing.

It is quite interesting to note that teaching is one of those professions that constantly keeps you wanting to be a student yourself, and probably a lifelong learner. It indirectly teases your brain to stay younger, to cope up with your students' calibre and will power.

What are some ways to love your job, as a teacher?

Lead students to acquire knowledge-
Maybe at some point in time, teachers must start believing that they are not the only source of knowledge that the students would depend on for their future education. You must teach the fundamentals to the students and lead them to learn what they need to learn after that. So, you'll be doing the 'leader of learning' role along with your students. Get knowledge and show the students how to get it as well.

Tell them what they should know-
Teachers must note that teaching is learning. Never stop a student from knowing what they would wish to know and what they should know. Indeed it is one of the best ways to teach someone something about what they should know. From the knowledge they obtain, they could be largely benefited. The process of solving problems cannot just be a classroom thing, but has to be experienced as well.

A step further to teach 'how to learn'-
It has been fairly misunderstood that education is more about 'what is learned', than about 'how it is learned'. Teaching students 'how to learn' could be demonstrated through inquiry (question and answer sessions) and with problem solving activities. This ideology can become the core of any educational stint. In cultivating this process, incredible amount of time can be saved  and greater value can be added into the lives of students.

Direct your students to build the future-
What counts for education is to help the future by teaching the past, in common. Change is ever changing. You've got to keep yourself updated with the latest happenings pertaining to the future and accordingly lead students to figure out how their knowledge could influence their tomorrow.

As a teacher, you must value your students' time and emphasize on the methods of real teaching in a classroom. It is a constant effort to keep improvising dynamic and creative learning environments, much to the benefit of the learners. This is what education is supposed to be doing.
