HKPolyUx conducts an online course on Human Anatomy.The course explores the structure of the human body through a real life case scenario of stroke from six healthcare professional perspectives.

About The Course:

The course focuses on basic concepts of anatomy and learn to ‘dissect' the human body with a logical approach through a typical clinical. During the course you will learn: Effects of stroke on the human bod ;Anatomy of relevant body systems at gross and histological levels; Services provided by allied health professionals for stroke patients; Relevant knowledge of anatomy for application of clinical procedures.

Course Syllabus:

Week 1:
Introduction of the stroke case scenario with a micro movie in Hong Kong style and six role-play videos demonstrating the application of anatomy knowledge being used by the six allied health disciplines.

Week 2:
Body systems and important organs; Locate the body regions and cavities; Describe the systems involved in each region; Identify the major organs (tissues and cells) in each system.

Week 3:
Anatomical orientation and skeletal system; Define the anatomical position and planes; Classify different types of bones; Describe the bone structure; Locate the major bones of the skeleton

Week 4:
The muscular system; Classify different types of muscles tissues; Indicate the characteristics and location of different types of muscles tissues; Illustrate the actions of muscles

Week 5:
The nervous system and special senses; Explain the differences between the central and peripheral nervous system; Describe the structure of neurons; Describe the major component of the brain
Describe the major structure of the spinal cord; Recognize the special sensory organs and their functions

Week 6:
Cardiovascular and pulmonary system; Recognize the structure of the heart and different types of blood vessels; Trace the major blood flow through the heart; Recognize the major structure of the lung and passageways; Trace the airflow through the pulmonary system

Week 7 & 8:
Round-up session

• Round up the stroke case with the generic anatomy knowledge covered in the course
• Recap the major events involved in the scenario
• Trace the path of embolism from foot to brain
• Explain the anatomical basis of the sign and symptom of the patient involved in the scenario
• Integrate the role of different healthcare professionals
• Visiting Professors to share opinions in the application of essential anatomy knowledge related to the case and their disciplines

The course does not have any prerequisite.
