Be-aware! UGC's List Of Fake Universities In India

It is the season for admissions, students are gearing up to start a new chapter of higher education but this find by the UGC can be a shocker. Here is a warning to all of you taking admissions in different parts of the country for higher education. Think before you take admissions in the following universities. These universities are listed out by the University Grants Commission as fake after much conjecture.

According to the UGC, there are about 22 fake universities in India across 9 states. The highest number of fake universities have been recorded by the UGC in Uttar Pradesh which has 9 fake universities. While Delhi ranks 2nd in the list having about 5 fake universities, 2 in West Bengal and 1 fake university each in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Odisha and Bihar.

The universities have been listed as fake since they are functioning in contravention or violation of the UGC Act, 1956 in different parts of the country.

The UGC has hereby notified the following 22 universities to be fake from 9 states across the country.
