SEBI Launches Certification Courses on Anti-Money Laundering and Terror Financing

The financial sector is evolving rapidly, making continuous learning essential for professionals. Recognizing this need, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched new educational initiatives focusing on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT). At the same time, IIM Mumbai, in collaboration with TalentSprint, has introduced a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Economics and Management. These programs aim to enhance knowledge in financial markets, compliance, and risk management, critical areas for professionals navigating today's complex economic environment.

SEBI's Initiative: Strengthening AML & CFT Awareness

SEBI has introduced specialized courses to ensure that market intermediaries-including brokers, fund managers, and financial analysts-gain a strong understanding of AML and CFT regulations. The training covers:

  • Key concepts of AML and CFT
  • Provisions under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)
  • Scheduled offenses under the SEBI Act and the Companies Act

A key component of this initiative is the "AML and CFT Provisions in Securities Market Certification Examination", developed in partnership with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM). This program is designed to equip financial professionals with essential knowledge to prevent illicit financial activities.

In addition, SEBI has been conducting outreach programs to further educate securities market participants on AML and CFT regulations. These initiatives reinforce SEBI's commitment to strengthening India's financial system by reducing risks associated with money laundering and terror financing.

IIM Mumbai's Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Economics & Management
