Students appearing for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) or Class 10 exam this year will be able to ride for free. Considering the needs of students, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have announced free travel facility for SSLC students. The exam will take place on two days that is on July 19 and July 22.
On these two days when exams are held, students can display their admit cards/hall tickets and travel for free between their residence and examination centres.
This year, the SSLC exams will be taken by a total of 8,76,581 students. On the first day (July 19), the exam for core subjects such as mathematics, science, and social science will be held, followed by a language exam on the second day (July 22). Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) format will be used in both tests.
Exams will be held from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on both days. Within a 200-meter radius around the exam centre, Section 144 will be implemented. To ensure tests are held under social distancing and COVID-19 protocol, the education department has expanded the number of exam centres from 48,000 last year to 73,066 this year. Each bench will have a maximum of twelve students. A thorough SOP for conducting exams has been prepared by the state health department.
Furthermore, symptomatic students will be given the option of taking their exams in a separate room. According to the rules, students who are Covid positive can take tests at the regional Covid care facility. Students who are unable to take the exam will be classified as freshers and will be permitted to retake the exam at a later date. If a student is not in town at the time, he or she can take the exam in one of the nearby centres.
