Stressing that there is a need to review the present education system, a Jammu and Kashmir minister has said students should be given education as per the modern trends so that they can compete for jobs.
"There is a need for providing quality education to the students as per the modern trends so that the students after completing their studies can compete in different job oriented fields," said Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma.
The minister was speaking at the 7th annual day function of Stephens International Public School here. Sharma, who was chief guest at the function, called for promoting moral ethics among students.
He said the time has come to review the present education system that needs some changes as per the present scenario.
He said education these days is becoming commercialized and main focus of teachers and parents is on improving academic activities only and students lack in overall development, especially in moral education.
The minister called for close coordination between parents and teachers.
"The teachers' role is more important than the parents who nurture the students to take the future responsibilities. Therefore, the teachers must put in their best efforts in shaping the future of children so that they become responsible and disciplined citizens to serve the nation", he asserted.
