Department of PU Education, Karnataka to change exam pattern

To improve the quality education in PU level, the Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka is planning to change the examination pattern for Arts and Commerce students from the next academic year.

The changes in the examination pattern would change the PU education system, which is applicable for class 11 and class 12 students of Arts and Commerce disciplines.

PU Education department to change exam pattern

Presently, the Science discipline has 100 marks examination, which is divided to 70 marks for theory examination and 30 marks for practical examination.

For the Arts and Commerce discipline, those who are studying mathematics subject have to write the theory examination for 100 marks.

Now the department is planning to divide the 100 marks into 80 marks for theory examination and 20 marks for assignments and project reports for Arts and Commerce disciplines.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakar said, "We need to reorganise everything. I will be the first one to oppose any move to introduce the new system this academic year. We will adopt the new scheme from next June."

He also said, "As per my direction, the department has taken up some measures to implement the RTE and nothing else."
