TocH President PJ.Joseph Receives Edupreneur Award

New Delhi, February 21: Prof. P J Joseph, President, Toc H Institute of Science & Technology, Cochin, has been bestowed upon the prestigious Edupreneur Award for his significant contributions in the field of engineering education in India.

 

The award was presented to Prof. Joseph at a function, Edupreneurs Conference 2013, in New Delhi recently, presided over by Union Minister of State for Hunan Resource Development Shashi Tharoor.

On the occasion, top 100 educational entrepreneurs (edupreneurs) were felicitated for transforming engineering education in the country.

The members of the jury for the award included luminaries from the ministry of communication and IT and leading technological universities in the country.

"This award is not only for a personal accomplishment but also for the recognition of Toc H Institute of Science & Technology, which has emerged as a centre of excellence in engineering stream," said Prof. Joseph, who also heads Toc H Public Schools, Kochi. "We will continue to strive for greater excellence and equip the students with competencies in tune with the demands of changing times."

A leading educationist, Prof. Joseph has presented papers at various international conferences abroad. He has also published some books, including four travelogues in Malayalam and three simplified versions of classical stories in English.

In his message, President Shri Pranab Mukherjee said, "I am happy to know that the felicitation ceremony of 100 educational entrepreneurs who have played a leading role in transforming engineering education in India is being organized. I extend my warm greetings and felicitations to the organizers and participants."

The conference was organized by Engineering Watch, a prestigious magazine dedicated to engineering community, in association with Educational Consultants India Limited (EdCIL), a Government of India enterprise.

A leading educationist, Prof. Joseph has presented papers at various international conferences abroad. He has also published some books, including four travelogues in Malayalam and three simplified versions of classical stories in English.

The World Bank had engaged his services for the survey of Adult Education for a Review of the World's Experience in Literacy. He is a recipient of the International Visiting Fellowship from the Kingston University, UK. He was also a member of the Academic Core Group for the Total Literacy Project of Kerala, launched in 1990. He is deeply involved in the Slum Rehabilitation Programme of Alwaye and the promotion of School Psychology in India.
