Practical Examination To Be Evaluated Periodically

Class XI & XII Evaluation System Changed
CBSE- Central Board of Secondary Education along with the introduction of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation System (CCE) is planning to convert one term-end assessment of practical examinations into a biannual or a quarterly process.

At present practical exams are conducted as a single end term exam and comprises of 30 marks. The year end practical exams will now be divided into periodic assessment periods where each evaluation will be considered while calculating the final marks.

A group of CBSE is working towards implementation of CCE system for class XI in the academic year 2012-13 and for class XII from 2013-14. The Board is planning to make periodic and assess students on a quarterly basis. The CCE will serve as a tool to analyze how much a student has learnt in their practicals on a continuous basis. The aim is to focus on the significance of practical exams as students do not take them seriously.

In such a case, now students will have to search for different topics and complete research or project work which will be checked during the assessment period in a similar way as other term end exam papers are evaluated. Also an external lecturer from the Board and School teachers will supervise the process.
