Sources reveal that IIM-K is aware of the fact that students loan rate has been raised to 4% from 2% and the institute is doing its best to help the students deal with the same by reducing the fee by Rs.30,000/-. It was also revealed that, in case of such reduction, IIM-K will have to bear a loss of Rs. 1.2 crores, which the institute is trying to compensate by increasing the student intake to 400 for PGP Program.
IIM-K is also on progress in setting up a campus in Kochi. The existing students feel that this is a noble gesture by the Institute and it will in-turn motivate students to pursue higher education in IIM-K. It has also introduced a range of scholarships that include Full Fee Waiver, Half Fee Waiver and Partial Fee Waiver. Almost 1% of students who have excelled in the field of academics/ social or extracurricular activities/ sports and won recognition and awards at the national or international level, including children of Martyrs belonging to military, para-military or police force who have sacrificed their lives for the nation would be eligible for a Full Fee Waiver.
Half Fee Waiver is provided to the Children of Defense or Allied services men who were injured during action. And Partial Fee Waiver is for those students who get admissions under persons with Disability category.
These measures taken by this Institute proves that the mission of IIM-K is not merely imparting quality education but is also fulfilling the larger needs of the society. The sources say that this step can be the hope in order to the great success of IIM-K .
