SSC CGL 2018: 30-day Study Schedule To Ace The Examination

Undeniably, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) is the most prestigious competitive one amongst the recruitment examinations. Annually, over 20 lakh candidates appear for this recruitment examination conducted for filling up Group B and Group C posts in various ministries and departments.

The SSC CGL will be conducted in four tiers. According to the official notification, the SSC CGL Tier-I 2018 is scheduled between July 25 and August 20, 2018. Students may wonder, "Can we crack SSC CGL in 30 days?" Frankly, it is possible with an effective study schedule. The SSC CGL Tier-I consists of four sections, namely, general intelligence & reasoning, quantitative aptitude, general awareness and English language & comprehension. Here is the study plan for the SSC CGL 2018 to crack the exam in 30 days.

SSC CGL 30-day Intensive Study Schedule

General Intelligence & Reasoning

Week 1: Analogy - (letter, number, g.k, meaning & figure based), classification, series - (number, alphabet, & word series) and coding & decoding

Week 2: Direction & distance, blood relations, order & ranking and word formation

Week 3: Jumble word, matrix, Venn diagram, syllogism, puzzles and seating arrangement

Week 4: Non-verbal - (mirror, hidden image, pattern completion, paper cutting, folding, dice & cubes, counting figure and missing figure)

General Awareness

Week 1: Basics of ancient history, modern history, Indian polity, geography and economics; basic current affairs for at least 3 months

Week 2: Physics, chemistry, biology and current affairs for the next three months

Week 3: Diseases, plants and reproduction; medieval history and fundamental rights; important rivers and top 10 in various lines; current affairs for another 3 months

Week 4: In-depth concepts of biology starting physics to chemistry; the economic survey and union budget; the current affairs focusing on the last 3 months

Quantitative Aptitude

Week 1: Simplification: quick calculation practice, average & percentage, number series, algebra - linear equations (word problems), quadratic equations, polynomials and identities

Week 2: Ratio & proportion, simple interest and compound interest, profit and loss, basics of mensuration

Week 3: Mensuration - (area, perimeter, surface area, volume, 2d & 3d combined), geometry - (triangles congruency, similarity theorems, circle chords & tangent theorems, co-ordinate geometry), trigonometry - (trigonometric ratios and identities, height and distance) and basics of data interpretation

Week 4: Data interpretation - (bar graph, line graph, pie chart and table), speed time distance, time & work, number system and mixtures & alligations

English Language & Comprehension

Week 1: Grammar: verbs, noun, preposition, adjective, tenses, articles, conjunctions, degrees of comparison, adverbs, phrase idiom meaning, one-word substitution and spellings

Week 2: Reading comprehension topics on business, travel and history besides synonyms & antonyms; start uses of verb with prepositions

Week 3: Vocabulary: completing phrase & idioms, grammar miscellaneous, spotting errors, cloze test and practice reading comprehension

Week 4: Revision of phrase idiom meanings, one-word substitution, grammar rules and practising questions on cloze test

SSC CGL Solved Papers

Apart from the above study schedule, an aspirant should solve at least one mock test every two days. One should also consider solving the practise questions apart from reading the concepts.

Last Two Days Before SSC CGL

The last days of the exam preparation should be considered only for the revision of the topics besides taking full-length mock tests. If you wish to follow a study schedule for the last days, start reading the basic concepts of every section. Once you are done with all the theoretical parts, allot more time for practising problems. It is also suggested to know some common mistakes that should be avoided while preparing for SSC CGL.
