Reasons To Take Up Teaching As A Career

By Vaishali Parnami

There is a well-known saying, “behind every successful man there is a woman”. We don’t actually know whether it is true in all the cases or not but we can definitely say that behind every successful man there is a teacher.

A teacher is someone who enlightens the path of success for the one who seeks it. A teacher is the one who empowers you with knowledge, values and competence. Teaching is such a noble profession but the tragedy is that teaching as a profession has not acquired its true position.

You can easily come across people proudly saying that they want their children to be doctors, engineers, IT professionals, scientists, astronauts, government officers or businessmen but you can rarely come across someone who says that they want to be a teacher or that they want their child to be a teacher.

Teaching is not considered a great career option. But this is irrational. We will discuss some points here that will make you think twice about teaching as a career.

1) Creativity

1) Creativity

It is a job where you have to be creative in your ways of teaching. Some people think that there are no risks in teaching as there are in business; there is nothing new you can invent in teaching as you can in research or engineering. You need to think twice here.

A teacher has to be creative enough to make their students learn and understand the facts. They have to take the risk of adopting new teaching techniques to better communicate with the students. A teacher has to look through the eyes of their student to understand what is bothering them.

2) Improvement

Teaching provides you the opportunity for self-improvement. You get to learn so many things from the students too.

With every student you have a new experience and with every new experience your skills get better, you improve your knowledge and you get to explore new things every day.

3) Work Satisfaction

This is something you definitely want from your profession. If you are not satisfied with your job there is no point in continuing it. Teaching can definitely give the kind of satisfaction you desire. Seeing improvements in the grades of your student will surely bring a smile to your face.

4) Respect

4) Respect

Teaching is the most humble profession. Students never forget a good teacher. They always shower their love and respect for those teachers who have helped during their tender age and moulded them into what they are today. This respect is not common in every profession.

5) Potential

5) Potential

Teaching has great potential. A good teacher is a nation builder. A teacher not only gives knowledge to their students but also teaches them what is good and what is not; a teacher teaches their student how to make good use of their knowledge for the betterment of the society and nation.

6) Teaching Is Fun

6) Teaching Is Fun

Teaching is not boring; it is a fun job. You play, you laugh, you explore and you do a lot more things with the students. Kids bring joy and positive energy in your life.

7) Income

7) Income

Talent and experience have no boundaries. If you are talented and have confidence in what you are doing then nobody can set bars on your income. Good teachers are always rewarded with good remuneration.

8) Job Opportunity

8) Job Opportunity

Teaching is a profession where you can never run out of job opportunities. Schools, colleges and universities are always in search of good teachers.

If you are an expert of any subject, you don't even need any of these institutions to hire you. You can schedule your own private tutoring classes, both online and offline.
