How To Crack CTET In The First Attempt?

CBSE is going to take place in September. Start your preparation early to crack the exam in two months.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a notification for the 11th edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). CTET is conducted twice a year for teaching positions from class 1 to 8 in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalaya, Central Tibetan Schools and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya besides schools under the administrative control of the union territories (UTs).

This is a very crucial time for aspirants to plan their preparation strategy. The competition for this teacher eligibility test will be very high and it is not an easy task to crack the exam in the first attempt. Here are some tips which can help you crack the examination.

How To Crack CTET In The First Attempt?

Start With Exam Pattern

The CTET exam consists of two papers. Candidates who wish to teach classes I-V have to appear for paper-I, whereas paper-II is for the ones who want to teach classes between VI and VIII. If candidates desire to teach at both levels, then they should appear for both the papers. Each paper consists of five subjects and the duration of the exam will be two and a half hours.

Aspirants should get familiar with the exam pattern prior to their preparation. One should also know the cut-off of each paper before kick-starting their preparation. There is no negative marking in the exam which is a boost for aspirants to try their luck.

Get Familiar With The Syllabus

The second step is to familiarise yourself with the syllabus. CBSE has published the detailed syllabus for each paper in CTET. Be it paper-I or II, we advise candidates to read the complete syllabus of both to understand the syllabus well.

While reading the syllabus, we also suggest aspirants practise solving the previous years' question papers to understand the weightage.

Understand The Nature And Standard Of Questions

CBSE has also published a list of points on nature and standard of questions that'll be asking in the CTET exam. These points clearly define how the exam will be. Read each point meticulously. This will help you a lot during your preparation. To read the structure and content of CTET, click here.

Take A Diagnostic Test

It is advised to take a diagnostic test prior to the preparation because it will display your weak and strong areas. Based on this you can start your preparation. We also advise aspirants to take the mock tests at regular intervals to keep their preparation on track. If you want to know your weak and strong areas in detail, go for the SWOT analysis.

Prepare An Effective Study Schedule

The most important step in the preparation is preparing an effective study schedule. We suggest you prepare a section-wise schedule because it will provide a scope for overall study. While preparing a study schedule, give time for taking mock tests and revision, specifically during the last week before the exam.

Practise Is The Key

The CTET examination will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). One has to increase the speed in the objective test because there will be only one minute to answer the questions. Practise is the only way to do so. Though some sections in the paper are theoretical, never ignore practising solving questions. Attempt all the questions because there is no negative marking.
