How To Become A Teacher

If you are passionate to become a teacher, there are several options such as Diploma in Teachers Education (DTed), a Bachelor in Education (BEd) and a Master in Education (MEd). Two years are required for the diploma/bachelor's course and one year for pursuing master's, which allows you to teach at any educational institution in the country. Apart from the above courses, one can also choose various programmes in private institutions in order to nourish their teaching experience.

Educational Qualifications

  • 10+2 is required to pursue DTed.
  • A three-year graduation such as BA, BSc and BCom is required for pursuing the BEd course.
  • BEd is required in order to take up master's in a specific subject.

DTed, BEd & MEd: Know The Basic Differences

DTed is required to teach from nursery to class 7. Starting from maths to arts, DTed trains candidates in every subject. If you want to teach above classes, you should have a BEd, which will let you to teach up to class 12. The BEd focuses more on the learning part which can be pursued only after a three-year graduate degree. The MEd focuses on the specific subject or branch.

Entrance Exams For A Teacher

  • One can also look for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), which is a state-level entrance test conducted by the respective state.
  • If you deserve to teach in the schools of the central government, such as Kendriya Vidyalaya, one can prefer Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  • After completing BEd, one can take the national-level entrance exam, National Eligibility Test (NET). This is conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) that makes you eligible for the post of Assistant Professor all over the country.

Career Opportunities For Teachers

To be honest, the job prospects for a teacher is with zero tension but full of responsibilities. Most of them will enjoy a regular job timing, i.e., 9-5.
