CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Syllabus for 2024-25

Higher Secondary is the most important stage of School Education since it introduces specialized discipline-based, content-oriented courses. Students enter this stage after completing ten years of general school and choose Chemistry to pursue a career in basic sciences or professional courses such as medicine, engineering, and technology, as well as study courses in applied science and technology at the tertiary level. As a result, there is a need to give learners a strong conceptual basis in Chemistry to prepare them for the demands of academic and professional courses after the senior secondary level. The revised and updated curriculum is based on a disciplinary approach with rigor and depth while keeping the syllabus light and comparable to the worldwide level.
The curriculum of Chemistry at the Senior Secondary Stage majorly emphasizes promoting an understanding of basic facts and concepts in chemistry while retaining the excitement of Chemistry; as a discipline. One of the main concerns of the Syllabus, prescribed by the CBSE is to equip students to face various challenges related to health, nutrition, environment, population, weather, industries, and agriculture. The overall syllabus of Chemistry for Class 12 develops problem-solving skills in students. Another important aspect of the syllabus of Chemistry of the CBSE is to expose the students to different processes used in industries and their technological applications.
