CTET Score Validity: NCTE Extends Validity of CTET Score Card To Lifetime

The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), a statutory body of the government of India, has decided to extend the validity of CTET score card for lifetime. The Council has taken the in its 50th General Assembly meeting. As per the sources, the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) score card which was valid for 7 years till now, will now be valid for lifetime. This is welcoming news for candidates who are preparing for the CTET exam. One can use their CTET passing certificate without any time limit.

The official notice reads, "The Council considered the agenda item and approved the validity of TET certificate it from 7 years to the life time. This provision would have prospective effect and for those have already passed out (already having TET certificate), NCTE would take legal opinion and will act accordingly."

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is vested with the responsibility to conduct the CTET exam. The entrance exam is conducted twice a year for teaching positions from Class 1 to 8 in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalaya, Central Tibetan Schools and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya besides schools under the administrative control of the Union Territories.

Candidates who are aspiring for Classes I-V - Primary Stage (Paper-I) should have Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (or) Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). For Classes VI-VIII: Elementary Stage (Paper-II) Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. (or) Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
