Yashwantrao Chavan Warana Mahavidyalaya, Warananagar was established in 1964. Its affiliated to Shivaji University.

Yashwantrao Chavan Warana Mahavidyalaya (YCWM) was established in 1964 with a view providing higher education to rural youth for thier total transformation. It was dream of founder president late Shri. Tatyasaheb Kore, to create "New Man" through higher education.

This college is named after our ex-deputy prime minister late Shri. Yashwantrao Chavan, who was an intimate friend of Late Shri. Tatyasaheb Kore. Shri Chavan was a constant source of inspiration and guiding force behind the inception of our college.

This college is one of the reputed and well established institutes in the state of Maharashtra. It has proved it's excellence in the field of higher education from XI th Standard to post graduate degree education. This institute, with its Arts, Science, Commerce and vocational education, is attracting the rural youth and guiding them to shape their future. The students in the college are not only from surrounding rural area but also from south west Maharashtra.

The college strives from multi-dimensional development of youth from the rural area and through sincere and meticulous efforts has been endeavoring to achieve the goal 'To transform the rural youth through higher education and to create a New Man'.

The college is recognized by Govt. of Maharashtra, University Grants Commission and affiliated to Shivaji University Kolhapur. It has proved its excellence in the field of higher education from, 11th standard to post-graduate degree education.

This Institution, with its Arts, Science and Commerce faculties, its attracting the rural youth and guiding them to shape their future. The students studying in the college are from the surrounding rural area, the present strength has crossed the figure 3000.

This is one of the reputed and well- established Institutes in the state of Maharashtra. Campus :- The campus is located at Warananagar, 10 km.

from NH4 and 30 km from Kolhapur. The campus has imposing building covering a built up area of 12,220 sq meters.

For the main building,library,hostels, Ladies hostel, Non-Residential student’s recreation hall and 12 blocks each having staff quarters. The two main building house 33 class rooms and 9 laboratories.

The library is housed in new building having an area of 1698 sq. meters.

The Institute has very good separate infrastructure for classes, laboratories, full-fledged library, well-equipped gymkhana, cultural hall, computer and Internet facility and facilities for the students to participate in N.S.S.,N.C.C. & NAEP activities right from the university to national level.
