Vidyasagar Mahavidyalaya(VM), Hooghly was established in 1998. It is a renowned, Co-Education college in Hooghly. 

Vidyasagar Mahavidyalaya, established in the year 1998, is located in a campus of 1.37 acres in a rural area.

It is affiliated to University of Calcutta. The college has been recognized by the UGC under 2(f) and under 12(8) on 22nd June 2005. It is a Govt. aided college, receiving grant from the government and comes under Grant-in-aid category. The "Mission of the Institution" is "to spread education amongst the rural-poor students and to produce good citizens". The college is offering Arts and Commerce courses at UG level. The college volunteered to be assessed by NAAC and submitted its self-study report (SSR) in January 2007.

The college is providing the needs of higher and quality education of the local people. The aim of the college is to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need in this era of information and teaching and as well as to provide ideal environment to develop.
