Vidyasagar Foundation School of Education and Training, Purulia was established in 2000 & college is managed by Vidyasagar Foundation Trust.

In the year 2000 Vidyasagar Foundation had been set up as a voluntary society to carry forward the ideals of Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar in respect of education and social values for the overall development of the society. After establishing girls residential high School in Purulia it is necessary for the Foundation to establish a teacher training college because without trained teachers knowledge cannot transfer properly.Vidyasagar had realized the necessity of teachers training more than hundred years ago and established with his own afford a Normal School.This college was established in the year 2008 by the National Council of Teacher Education.

Vidyasagar Foundation School of Education and Training is affiliated to Burdwan University, West Bengal and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The college appoints well competent and dedicated lecturers to impart quality education to its students. The institute offers one-year regular Bachelor of Education course to the young aspirants. The aim of the college is to impart proper training to the educated youth in the field of education and also To enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose and spirit of Secondary/Higher Secondary Education.

The College is involved to give the trainees to meet the future challanges in the field of Education and develop communication skills and use modern information Technology for School Purpose.
