Vidyasagar College of Education(VCE), Darjeeling was founded in 2007. The college is a co-educational institute, which is governed by Robindro Education Trust.The college is affiliated to the University of North Bengal and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Vidyasagar College of Education was established on 3rd March 2007 in the hamlet Rupandighi in Phansidewa Block in Siliguri Sub-division of Darjeeling district in the State of West Bengal. It is run by Phansidewa Kabiguru Rabindranath Educational Society (Registration No. 41L.32236, Dated September 27, 2005) to spread the light of knowledge in the Society by providing quality teacher education and to reach the opportunity of higher education to the doorstep of the youth of the rural boarder area.

This College is located in an ideal ambience far from the din and bustle of city life aiming to produce teachers of dynamic personality. It justifies its good name and has excellent result in the last 5 years. Good discipline, dedicated and devoted works, are the land marks of this college. The environment of college, premises, class rooms and labs are highly impressive and impulsive. Teaching faculties are dynamic, motivate and friendly to their students. This institute fulfils all the norms and standards formulated by authorities like NCTE, University of North Bengal and state government of West Bengal. The institute is appreciated by the inspecting authorities for the institutional and infrastructural facilities and the innovative working and enthusiastic performance of the management and staff.

The institution from its very inception (academic session: 2009-10) has been firmly insistent on maintaining an excellent academic atmosphere, discipline and culture among the students. It endeavours to achieve excellence and through hard work and discipline and thus prepares the students to face the challenges of recent times.

The institute has earned a reputation by offering programmes (both regular & ODL mode) in teacher education leading to the degrees of B.Ed.

under the University of North Bengal and B.Ed., M.Ed., & M.A. (Education) of IGNOU.
