V.V. Sangha's Veerashaiva College, Ballari was popularly known as Veerashaiva College, Ballari was established on 26th June 1945 under the management of Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka (V.V.) Sangha, Ballari.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
Since its inception, the college got affiliated with different universities i.e. the University of Madras - Chennai till 1956, then to University of Mysore - Mysuru till 1964, then to Karnatak University - Dharwad till 1980 later it was affiliated with Gulbarga University - Kalaburagi since 1980. At present, the college is affiliated with Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University (VSKU) - Ballari from the year 2014.

It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 2nd February 1962 & 12(B) on 27th March 1962 under Act, 1956 and re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.72 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 25th May 2016.

V.V. Sangha established the Veerashaiva College, a premier institution in Ballari, a centre in the backward area of northern part of Karnataka (Madras Presidency). It was the fruitful result of the sincere efforts and sacrifice of some dedicated souls. By the establishment of this pioneer institution, the dream of higher education in this area was realized.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college celebrated the Golden Jubilee Function in the year 1996. For such record of historical achievement, the institution has been recognized by the UGC, New Delhi, State Govt. and the Universities concerned. It is also well reckoned by other well-known agencies.

At the beginning of the academic year, various committees are formed by the Principal for the smooth functioning of academic and administrative activities of the institution.

Along with conventional programmes, B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com, new programmes with a number of options are also given due importance in this institution.

Keeping in view the need of the hour, 4 P.G. Courses, pertaining to the core and non-core groups have been introduced.

The impact of globalization necessitated the college to introduce the career-oriented programmes in the field of Management and Computer Science such as BBM., B. Sc with Bio-Technology as one of the subjects, B.Com (Vocational T.P.P.), B.Com.(Vocational Computers), BCA, B.Sc Computer Science as one of the subjects, M.Sc (Computer Science). Management is showing a keen interest in providing basic infrastructure and financing for these new programmes.
