Vivekananda College of Education (VCE), Arsikere (Dist. Hassan) was established in June 1974 under the aegis of the Sri Yelanadu Jagadguru Education Society (R), Arsikere.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
The college is affiliated to University of Mysore, Mysuru and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) in May 1978 & 12(B) in March 1994 under Act, 1956.

It is also recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru & Govt. of Karnataka. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.02 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 8th January 2011.

The institution is functioning in an ' L' shaped spacious building, located on 2.23 acres of land near N.H. 206 away from the town. The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid system by the Government of Karnataka in 1979, that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The theme of the college is to impart and promote professional education for teachers who lead society and contribute to the nation's development. The institution has consistently produced top grade teachers since its inception.

The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
